HMCS To Install More Drop-Boxes from Banking Automation

HMCS (Her Majesty’s Courts Service) has recently agreed to continue the roll-out of self-service Drop Boxes at its sites, as a quick, convenient and cost-effective means of collecting fine payments from defendants.

Automated Drop Boxes are installed at almost 130 individual Magistrates’ Courts and have proved very successful in the collection of regular fine payments from defendants, since 2001.

A wide range of Drop Boxes is available, with simple free-standing units, in-the-wall systems and dedicated external 24/7 solutions among those on offer.

Because the Drop Box concept is well proven within Magistrates’ Courts, recent trials have now begun within County Court and Crown Court environments – we look forward to continuing the success in these new areas. Our range includes a variant with a wider entrance slot that allows A4 sized applications to be deposited together with the fee payable to commence the court process.

HMCS is now committed to deploying Drop Boxes as an ongoing means of receiving cash payments at its courts and offices, particularly as traditional cash counters are reduced and/or removed.

Banking Automation is delighted to work with HMCS and to be associated as a strategic partner in this very important aspect of its operations.
